Hi, I'm Saroj
I build labs that run their own experiments.

I started out in math. At William Carey University I studied mathematics and chemistry, and my first research project was a neural network that predicted the atomization energies of inorganic compounds.
Polymers have the same kind of problem: far more possible recipes than anyone could make by hand. For my Ph.D. in the Gu Research Group at Southern Miss, I built the robots, software and data pipelines that let a small team search that space, and tested them during beamtime at synchrotrons.
Since April 2026 I've been at Berkeley Lab as an ALS Doctoral Fellow, bringing the same approach to solid battery electrolytes.
What I care about most is that other people can use these tools. A workflow another group can point at their own problem beats a demo only I can run.
Education, awards, talks and beamtime are on the CV.
